The role
Our Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme is a four-year programme that equips you with the skills and experience you need to become a skilled machinist.
You will be primarily focused on manufacturing and repairing components for Swanage Railway steam locomotives and other railway vehicles.
The Job will include training to Apprenticeship Standard Level 3 and College attendance.
You will need to be a motivated and focused individual who is always prepared to learn new skills as well as competently carry out learnt skills in a timely manner. You will be expected to keep up to date on all college work and focus your time accordingly.
The person
- A ‘can-do’ attitude along with an honest and pragmatic approach to work.
- The postholder must be able to demonstrate good inter-personal skills, be self-motivated and able to work on his/her own initiative, relate well to people of all ages and abilities and be an active and effective member of a team.
- Applicants must be physically fit and will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions when required. Adherence to the Railway’s policies and procedures, including Health & Safety rules, is of paramount importance. Knowledge of current Health & Safety standards is desirable.
