The council operate an award winning ample 350 space car park which forms a “Park and Ride” for the whole area, situated adjacent to the A351 Wareham to Swanage main road. This is ideally placed to form the starting point to explore Corfe, Swanage and the Purbeck and has its very own Swanage Railway station at Norden.

Sail to Purbeck! Yes you can drive your car onto the chain ferry at Sandbanks and sail across the mouth of Poole Harbour to access Swanage and Purbeck. Once the ferry has arrived at Studland from the chain ferry road you can drive straight to Norden or Swanage to park and easily access the railway and other local attractions.
Parking in Swanage is limited, especially during the summer and regatta weeks, making the easiest way to access Swanage by parking at the Purbeck District Council operated Car Park at Norden (BH20 5DW) and then taking the train from the adjacent station. While Swanage Railway does not have its own car park in Swanage, there are several in the town with a main car park at Victoria Avenue (Long Stay, charges apply) BH19 1PW.

Our station at Harman’s Cross BH19 3EB makes an ideal starting point for a walking tour of the Purbecks and has a 50 space public car park directly adjacent to the station.
There is no parking available at Corfe Caste and Herston stations, these are accessible by foot only.
morebus run regular services between the main National Rail station at Wareham and Swanage Railway stations.
All bus services run to/from Swanage Railway station forecourt giving excellent access to our Ticket Office, Shop, Cafe and direct access to our trains. There are full timetables for the area on the morebus website.
Bus Service 40 runs from Poole to Swanage via Wareham and Corfe Castle, approximately every hour on Mondays to Saturdays and every two hours on Sundays and Public Holidays but every hour during the Summer Season.
Bus Service 50 runs from Bournemouth to Swanage via the Sandbanks Ferry every hour Monday to Saturday and also on Sundays and Public Holidays during the summer period, but runs less frequently on Sundays and Public holidays during the winter. During the summer OPEN TOP double deck buses are used on the 50 route which crosses the mouth of Poole Harbour on the chain ferry and then climbs through the magnificent Purbeck Hills to Swanage. The 50 bus now terminates at Bournemouth Interchange (ie Bournemouth Rail Station).
Swanage has its own restored pier. Why not sail to Swanage, it is a short walk along the main Station Road shopping area to our station and use the railway to steam to Corfe Castle, or explore the area from Harman’s Cross? Further details available from www.bluelinecruises.co.uk
