Swanage Railway is an award-winning railway carrying over 200,000 passengers a year, on its heritage services, making it one of the leading tourist attractions in Dorset. It has around 500 volunteers across its departments.

The role will be to assist the reintroduction of railway catering services.

The role

• The post holder will assist the Catering Manager to deliver an efficient and effective catering service in the railway’s three Catering outlets at Swanage, Corfe, and Norden Stations
• To work on the Railway prestigious Dining train and to assist the Catering Manager in ensuring the customers receive a quality service.
• To achieve this, a self-motivated individual is required with experience of successful volunteer engagement and knowledge of recruiting and supporting volunteers. Good communication skills are essential.

The person

• Preferably experience in customer services in a catering environment although training will be given
• If not already held, be willing to undertake food hygiene training leading to certification
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of the voluntary sector and optimising volunteer experience
• Holder of full driving licence as position is multi based

• Starting salary £ 20,800 per annum rising to £22,500 following satisfactory completion of a probationary period of three months.
