Covid-19 - Passenger Information



We understand that booking advance tickets is a risk, especially with the current uncertainty that surrounds the COVID-19 pandemic. However, we believe everyone needs something exciting to look forward to, so we are introducing our COVID-19 Guarantee to give you peace of mind.

Our COVID-19 Guarantee gives you the peace of mind to book tickets for your next visit to the Swanage Railway, knowing that whatever happens with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, your tickets remain safe. 

The Swanage Railway COVID-19 Guarantee applies to our regular fares, our dining trains and other special events that may be offered. For a full list of events, please click (here). 

What does the Swanage Railway COVID-19 Guarantee mean?

You will be entitled to transfer your tickets to an equivalent service on another date (where available), transfer the full value of your booking to a gift card that you can use over the next 2 years if:

  • Government restriction means we cannot operate the event/service.
  • Government restrictions means you cannot travel to the Swanage Railway.
  • You, or a member of your party, test positive for Covid-19 or are required to isolate.

Terms and Conditions

  • You must contact us and enact the COVID-19 Guarantee before your original date of travel to arrange the transfer of your tickets.
  • If you wish to transfer your tickets to another event with a higher value, you will be asked to pay the difference. If you wish to transfer to an event of lower value, we will send you a non-exchangeable gift card to cover the difference. 
  • Season Tickets, Railcards, Raffle Prize vouchers and membership benefits will not be refundable.
  • Our usual booking terms and conditions remain unchanged and you can view these (here). 
  • The Swanage Railway COVID-19 Guarantee is available until further notice and the Swanage Railway reserves the right to amend or withdraw it at any time. 
  • The Swanage Railway COVID-19 Guarantee does not extend to third party bookings. If you booked your visit via a coach party, travel company, holiday agent or other party, please contact them directly to discuss your booking.

We are working hard to ensure the safety of our visitors and staff, here are the measures we have put in place.

  • Perspex Screens at till points.
  • Card only Payments (No cash).
  • Face Coverings are strongly recommended.
  • Hand sanatizer at main station entrances.


  • There are no toilets on the trains.
  • Our catering facilitie at Norden remains closed until further notice.
  • Passengers are requested to take rubbish home.
  • In accordance with current government regulations, all passengers on our trains are strongly recommended to wear face coverings.
    Please note that the regulation does not apply to children under the age of 11, to railway staff in the course of their duties and in certain other situations
  • All bookings are subject to Sr Covid Guarantee as above.
  • Passengers who exhibit symptoms of Covid-19 or who have been in contact with someone who has, MUST NOT attend the railway.
  • Is it a requirement that you must visit the railway not have knowingly been in contact with someone with the virus for 14 days.
