A week of special events around the region celebrating the 125th Anniversary of the arrival of the railway in Swanage.

The Swanage Railway plans* to welcome a visiting Beattie tank locomotive - Rebuilt LSWR 0298 Class 2-4-0 Well Tank No. 0314 - 30585. This locomotive is similar to the locomotive which visited the Swanage Railway in 2005.

Planned schedule 17th to 23rd May

It is planned* that the Swanage resident LSWR 0-4-4T Class M7 no. 30053 will run on the service train. This locomotive is a Victorian design and Edwardian built.

11:00 - Brian Jackson will be signing copies of his book "Swanage - 125 Years of Railways" in the Swanage railway shop. See note below

11:30 - Recreation of the first train to leave Swanage, hauled by the Beattie Well Tank.

The Beattie Well Tank will run during the remainder of the day,hauling trains for pre-booked school parties.
