Mike Walshaw of the Purbeck Railway Circle (The Swanage Area Group of the Swanage Railway Trust) writes: "On Friday 20 May we help to celebrate 120 Years of the Swanage Railway
with our own Special Events at the Catholic Church Hall, Rempstone Road, Swanage, just 200 metres from the Station.
Admission is free, to avoid having to pay VAT, but we shall be pleased to receive your donations."
Model Railway and Signalling Exhibition Fri 20th May from 11.00 am to 4.30 pm
Featuring:
‘Eldon’s Siding’, depicting the clay exchange siding at Norden in the Edwardian era,
‘Exeview’ based on Exmouth at the far end of the Jurassic Coast, set in the 1950/60s,
Displays of models of locos and stock seen on the Swanage Branch over the years.
The Signalling Exhibition features a demonstration of block signalling with real live block bells and box diagrams from the Swanage Branch as at 1967 and 1972, plus lots of photos and examples of LSWR and SR
block instruments.
Model traders.
Light refreshments.
Evening Slide Talks Fri 20th May starting at 7.00 pm (doors open at 6.30 pm)
