Peter was firemen to the legendary Donald Beale, driver on the Somerset and Dorset line from Bournemouth to Bath via Blandford Forum and Templecombe (passenger service axed in March, 1966). The pair were immortalised in the late and great Ivo Peters' books.

Behind the group in the pictures is Southern Locomotives Ltd's Standard Class 4 Tank No. 80078 built at Brighton in 1954.

The photograph was taken on Saturday 8th July by Andrew P.M. Wright the Swanage Railway official photographer & press officer.
