To all supporters of the Swanage Railway,
As you may know, over the past few years the Swanage Railway has lost thousands of
pounds worth of materials - particularly metal parts and cables - from unattended sites around the Railway.
We believe that this metal is often sold to unscrupulous Scrap Metal Merchants and is essentially untraceable.
The Swanage Railway is not alone in facing this problem, and the wider Rail Industry suffers numerous delays because of it.
Below is a link to an e-petition aimed at asking Parliament to review the introduction of
legislation to make cash transactions at Scrap Metal Dealers illegal.
This may help deter theft because it will force a financial trail to be made and
will therefore help trace those responsible.
Please will you consider signing the epetition and help us by doing so -
and pass on this message to your friends and colleagues!
