Swanage Railway's official photographer & press officer Andrew P.M. Wright has supplied over 100 photos of the first six-coach trains operating on the Swanage Railway on Sunday 1st August 2010 - with three locomotives in steam.

One of the three locos remained ready in the station loop at Swanage to go onto the rear of the next arriving train and then take it out as the next scheduled service, leaving the arriving locomotive sitting on the stopblocks at Swanage before going into the station loop after the train departed ready to repeat the sequence of manoeuvres..

SR 4-6-2 "Battle of Britain" Class No. 34070 Manston stands ready in the station loop at Swanage to go onto the rear of the arriving train hauled by ex-BR 2-6-4T Class 4MT No. 80104 driven by Les Frampton on Sunday 1st August 2010. Photo Andrew P.M. Wright

The three locos were LSWR 0-4-4T Class M7 no. 30053 , SR 4-6-2 "Battle of Britain" Class No. 34070 Manston, plus BR 2-6-4T Class 4MT No. 80104.

The loco crews were as follows: No 53's driver was Graham Froud with fireman Bill Patten, No 80104's driver was Les Frampton with fireman Barry Light, No 34070's driver was Oliver Furnell with fireman Bill Crutcher. The Swanage signalman was Graham Cope.

As the passengers alight, SR 4-6-2 "Battle of Britain" Class No. 34070 Manston runs past the rear of the newly-arrived train hauled by ex-BR 2-6-4T Class 4MT No. 80104 and reverses into position ready to haul the next service to Norden Park and Ride via Herston, Harman's Cross and Corfe Castle on Sunday 1st August 2010.
