its cylinders during a shunting manoeuvre on 16th June 2010. Photo Andrew P.M. Wright
Swanage Railway's official photographer & press officer Andrew P.M. Wright has
supplied numerous photos of the Purbeck Tornado visiting the Swanage Railway on 16th June 2010.
Swanage.
The huge train comprised of 2 locomotives and 13 coaches which could not remain at
Swanage station's main platform awaiting the return journey as the platform was required for
timetabled Swanage Railway services.
Andrew's photos show the complex manoeuvres needed to remove rolling stock to Eldon's Sidings for storage.
Scheduled Swanage Railway services hauled by Battle of Britain class Bulleid Pacific No. 34070 Manston
were then able to continue during the visit of the railtour.
The shunting manoeuvres were assisted by the Swanage Railway's Class 33 No. 33111, as shown in the photos below.
