History was made in Purbeck today - Wednesday, 16 June 2010 - when the first new main line steam
locomotive to be built in Britain for almost 50 years hauls a special train from London Victoria down to
Corfe Castle and Swanage, returning to London Waterloo.
This page was updated with supporters' photos during the historic journey on Wednesday 16th June, and we also now have further

Swanage Railway supporter Peter Milford has supplied a short sequence of photos showing
the 'Purbeck Tornado' on the way to Swanage - with 67029 on the rear in preparation for the return haul for the section
to Southampton due to 60163 being too long to turn at the Swanage turntable.
Peter's shots were taken at Hinton and show 60163 Tornado crossing the county border to enter Dorset for the first time.
Peter has also supplied
photos of the return working taken at Dunbridge on the Wilts and Hants route.

The return journey

the return passage to London Waterloo via Romsey, Salisbury
(Laverstock), Andover and Basingstoke.
