Military Band and parade of troops on Swanage seafront on Saturday 30th May 2009 after
the official reopening of Herston Halt's
rebuilt platform, following which hundreds of soldiers from 11th Signal Regiment
exercised their right to march through Swanage with swords drawn and bayonets fixed.

As part of Swanage Armed Forces Weekend,
Swanage Railway is pleased to offer free travel to
members of the armed forces on 19th and 20th June.
In order to obtain a free ticket, armed forces personnel will have to
present their ID card at a Swanage Railway booking office to obtain a ticket.
This offer is available to ID card holders only and the ID card must be shown to
booking offices and when requested by a travelling ticket inspector.
The offer applies to scheduled services only and does not include the Wessex Belle dining train.
