Swanage Railway members Peter Milford, Mike Stollery, Nathan Au and Matthew Hurst have supplied views of
King Arthur class 4-6-0 No. 30777 Sir Lamiel moving from Swanage to Eastleigh and
returning on 28th May 2010.
Peter Milford writes:
King Arthur class 4-6-0 No. 30777 Sir Lamiel
made a turning move from Swanage to Eastleigh and back today -
and took the opportunity to collect car M54504 from the 2-car
Class 108 DMU set and return this to Swanage.
The 2nd DMU unit will return at a later date.
No. 30777 Sir Lamiel had
arrived at Swanage on Saturday 23rd May 2010, in a positioning movement
in readiness to haul the return leg to London on 31st May of the Swanage Belle railtour
which will arrive at Swanage hauled by Black Five No. 44871.
It had been hoped that the loco would have been able to haul the Swanage Railway's
service trains during its time at Swanage, but this did not prove to be possible
due to operational constraints in making the loco ready for service on 31st May.
My photo shows Sir Lamiel and the DMU coach passing Lymington Junction at
Brockenhurst with the return working from Eastleigh to Swanage on 28th May 2010.
Matt McManus, Deputy Ops Manager was firing that trip
with Mel Cox on the footplate as well.
Mike Stollery's photos show Sir Lamiel being prepared prior to departure from Swanage
and on 'his' way past Kings Road leaving at 10.20 to Eastleigh to turn and
arriving back from Eastleigh, shortly after 7pm, and Nathan Au's photos show the loco
steaming out of Poole at the ascent up Parkstone Bank and return, and Matthew Hurst's photos show
the loco passing through Millbrook on its return trip.
