Purbeck Conqueror London Railtour confirmed for 27th March 2010

A year after we made railway history by running the first through train to Swanage since 1972, here's another tour to this idyllic preserved branchline nestling amid the Purbeck Hills. This time we go on a Saturday and the train is hauled by a pair of GBRf Class 73 electro-diesels.

Departure is from London Waterloo and Surbiton. Our route is direct via Southampton to Worgret Junction where we veer left on to the Swanage branch.

We reach Swanage Railway metals at Motala, pass the stark ruin of William the Conqueror's castle at Corfe and reach Swanage itself around mid-day.

Swanage station is in the heart of the seaside town, no more than a five minute level walk to the promenade.

The Swanage Railway will be running its own services on this date.

Our return route is as outward to Southampton, then via Havant, Liss, Guildford, Cobham and Hampton Court Junction.

The Train Operating Company for this trip is First GB Railfreight.
