Bulleid Pacific No 34070 Manston returning to Swanage via the main line on
Tuesday 21st July 2009.

Bulleid Pacific No 34070 Manston at Motala on its journey to Swanage,
having travelled from Eastleigh via Wareham and the main line on
Tuesday 21st July 2009.
Bulleid Pacific 'Battle of Britain' class No 34070 Manston returned to Swanage from
Eastleigh via Wareham and the main line on Tuesday 21st July 2009.
Battle of Britain class Bulleid Pacific No 34070 Manston was running hot on all four axleboxes of the leading bogie
when it arrived at Eastleigh Works for the Eastleigh 100 event.
After the event and whilst still at the Works the opportunity was taken to lift the loco and remove the bogie for
further examination and attention.
The driver of the Class 37 for the Swanage-bound trip was Martin Squibb and the driver for the return trip was Dave Hewson.
Loco and crew were supplied by West Coast Railways and had come from Southall in south London.
The crew on the footplate of No 34070 Manston for the journey back from Eastleigh were Mel Cox as the West Coast
Railways Traction Inspector and Graham Froud, Dan Bennett and James Cox as Manston's support crew.
