Andrew P.M. Wright has supplied nearly 40 photos of work on locomotive boilers at Swanage Railway's loco shed during the January 2008 closedown period.

Andrew's photos were taken in mid-January 2008 and show Rebuilt West Country Class Bulleid Pacific No 34028 Eddystone together with BR Standard Class 4 No 80104 undergoing extensive repair work at Swanage.

Swanage Railway driver Oliver Furnell works on cleaning the face of the cylinder cover, and seen at the workbench with the steam valve stem from BR Standard Class 4 locomotive No. 80104 in January 2008.

Superheater elements are seen being taken out of Eddystone with some needle gunning work also taking place in the smokebox of the West Country Bulleid Pacific.

Superheater flue work is also seen being carried out on 80104, together with work on its valves, pistons and cylinders.

Difficult and arduous work inside the smokeboxes of Rebuilt West Country Class Bulleid Pacific No 34028 Eddystone (right) and BR Standard Class 4 No 80104 (left) at the Swanage Railway in January 2008.

The Swanage Railway resumes its steam train service between Norden park and ride, Corfe Castle, Harman's Cross, Herston and Swanage on Saturday 9th February 2008.
