Nigel Clark writes:

In exchange for the loan of their Jinty for the Swanage Railway's 2006 Steam Gala, our ex-GWR 0-6-2T locomotive No. 6695 attended the Spa Valley Autumn Gala event at Tunbridge Wells over the weekend of 15th/16th September 2007.

All the photos on this page were taken during the Spa Valley Autumn Gala 2007, when Ann and I were the 6695 Owners Representatives for that weekend.

Also visiting Spa Valley that weekend was Dennis Howells' ex-GWR 94xx Pannier Tank No.9466 which features in some of the photos.

Dennis brought 9466 to Swanage for one Summer season in the early eighties and it was good to meet up with him and 9466 again.

The SVR is a very friendly railway (similar to the Swanage Railway) and many new friends were made. 6695 was very popular with crews and the general public, and stayed at the SVR for the following weekend.

6695 was in use over the weekend 21st to 23rd September inclusive, working all trains, and proving how valuable and versatile a locomotive of this type is to a working railway.

As reported in our separate news item, 6695 is now undergoing urgent axlebox repair work prior to returning to work on the Swanage Railway. (Click here to see the news item and photo report). Swanage Railway's 6695 Locomotive Group always welcomes help and support, especially when unexpected problems of this significance are encountered.
