A GREAT day out in the beautiful Purbecks and an exciting trip on the restored Swanage Railway is a must this Easter holiday with Hot Cross Bun and Easter Egg special steam trains running to Harman’s Cross, Corfe Castle and the Norden ‘park and ride’ station. Hot Cross Bun steam trains run on Good Friday, April 2nd, 1999, with every travelling passenger receiving a tasty and locally baked Hot Cross bun to eat during the hour-long journey. And on Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, children are in for a treat because when they travel on the trains they will receive a free hand-made and locally baked chocolate Easter Egg. On Good Friday and Easter Saturday, trains run every 70 minutes from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm and on Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Easter Monday, Swanage Railway volunteers are running their intensive two-train service with trains every 35 minutes from 10.30 am and 5.30 pm. Free and attended car parking for peace of mind is available at Purbeck District Council’s Norden park and ride car park next to the station and just off the Wytch Farm roundabout on main A351 road from Wareham. Normal ticket prices apply for the special Easter steam trains with fares £6 for a return trip from Swanage to Norden while children aged five to 15, and senior citizens, travel for half price. Family tickets for two adults and up to three children are £17.
