Class 33 diesel-electric locomotive D6515 ‘Stan Symes’ hauls a mixed good train
at Harman's Cross during the Branch Line Weekend at Swanage Railway on 31st March and 1st April 2007
Andrew P.M. Wright has supplied nearly 350 great photos taken during the Swanage Railway Branch Line Weekend on 31st March and 1st April 2007.
The Branch Line Weekend featured unusual train workings every 40 minutes – with unusual locomotive permutations –
that would have been seen on the Swanage Railway when it was run by British Rail before the line was controversially
closed and the tracks lifted in 1972.
Locomotives working throughout the weekend were ex-British Rail Class 20 diesel-electric
locomotive No. D8188, Standard 4MT classmates 80078 and 80104, Class 33 diesel-electric locomotive D6515 ‘Stan Symes’
and late 1920s Armstrong Whitworth Newcastle-built GWR Taffy Tank No. 6695.
Proceeds from the Branch Line Weekend will aid the further expansion and development of the award-winning
Swanage Railway which started from nothing at a disused Swanage station in 1976.
We have split the photos over several pages. Please follow the links at the foot of this page for more photos.
