Andrew P.M. Wright has supplied nearly 40 marvellous photos showing maintenance work on the Swanage Railway's award-winning signal box at Harmans Cross. We have split the photos over 2 pages. The work on Harman's Cross signal box was able to be carried out by Dave Cobb and Stuart Ward during the annual shutdown period, avoiding disruption to scheduled services.

The work shows the locking system for the lever frame being taken apart prior to a new wooden beam that carries the lever frame and locking system being installed - and then the locking system then being re-installed and tested.

Harman's Cross was the Swanage Railway's first signal box and was opened nearly 10 years ago, in July, 1997. It won the prestigious and coveted top national heritage award - the Westinghouse Signalling Award.
