Dave Round reports the good news that the boiler of 6695 passed its Hydraulic Test on 1st April at Herston Works, and a full steam test is likely later this week.

Dave writes: "The boiler passed its Hydraulic Test today with
the boiler inspector, at Herston works. Credit must go to the lads of
Southern locomotives who have carried out the major work to the boiler
except where specialist repairs were required, which were carried out by
L&NWR of Crewe".
Dave goes on to say: "This is extremely good news as it means a Steam Test will be
carried out probably at the end of the week and reassembly of the boiler
into frames very shortly after. With some finishing work to do and final
painting, 6695 should enter traffic this Summer. Our appeal for the final
funding still stands to help enable this to happen".

Dave adds: "Why not support this exciting venture by making a donation or becoming a shareholder in this locomotive.
Easy term payments from as little as £5 a month will give you part ownership
of 6695, a full share costing £250".
Urgent appeal for funds to complete the overhaul of no. 6695. Click here for details.
