Dedicated Swanage Railway volunteers staged their annual steam gala over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, 11th & 12th September, 2004. to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the rebuilt and reopened Purbeck Line.

Four ex-BR steam locomotives were in steam for the weekend which featured special combinations and workings - including nostalgic freight trains and light engine movements. The locos were Edwardian-built Drommond M7 no. 30053, West Country Class Bulleid Pacific no. 34028 Eddystome and BR Standard Class 4 nos. 80078 & 80104. Andrew P.M. Wright, the Swanage Railway's Official Photographer & Press Officer, has supplied us with over 450 superb photgraphs for this photo report.
