Swanage Railway volunteers and the Great Dorset Steam Fair made history on Tuesday, 24th August, 2004, when a huge
leviathan of steam - a 128 ton steam locomotive - visited the popular annual event north of Blandford.
As there is no road access at Swanage, for the journey by road from the Swanage Railway to the Steam Fair
the Swanage Railway's Class 08 Diesel Shunter towed 257 Squadron to the road/rail interchange at
Norden as a single unit. 257 Squadron was taken to Norden on the morning of Monday, 23rd August, 2004 and
left Norden by road that
evening.
