in the afternoon sunshine at Swanage on Tuesday 13th January 2004.
Normal public services on the Swanage Railway are suspended for the annual shutdown and maintenance period
until they resume on 14th February with the next Thomas event.
Eddystone took advantage of this quiet period to make several
trips up and down the Swanage Railway
as a series of proving runs to iron out any minor
problems and leaks following its recent major rebuild.
The restoration of Eddystone was originally started at Sellinge but moved to Swanage in
November 1999. Steady progress has been made since then thanks to the efforts of the dedicated teams of volunteers, culminating in the passing of the steam test
on 24th July. To see photos of this milestone event please click here.
