Over the weekend of 23rd and 24th March the Swanage Railway held its annnual open weekend for
members. During the weekend, members of the Railway have access to areas normally closed to visitors,
and could also visit the museum and Station Master's
house at Corfe Castle station covered in a separate news item.
This year a star attraction was the guided walk to the end of the line, now rejoined at Furzebrook.
Members also have access to the footplate and brake van rides.
Herston Works and the Goods Shed were open each day to visitors as can be seen in these photos from
Andrew P.M. Wright, the Swanage Railway
Official Photographer & Press Officer.
Another first for visitors this year was a tour inside the new Swanage Signal Box which is being prepared
for its imminent introduction into service. Here we have a rare glimpse of the room beneath the signal box
where the lower end of the signal levers connects to the point rodding and signal cables.
