The Swanage Railway shop can be found at Swanage station, conveniently located on Platform 2 in the main station building.
The well-stocked shop has plenty for the railway enthusiast and those
who are on holiday or just visiting for the day.
Our railway range of books, DVDs and model railways is wide but with a focus on the Southern Railway and
Southern Region of British Railways.
We also have plenty of Thomas products as well as new items based on the
CBeebies series Chuggington.
For the non-railway enthusiast there are local books and guide books, walking guides,
I-Spy books and much more. We are also developing a line of 'nostalgia' products to evoke past times.
New books for 2011 include Tornado by Tom Ingall priced at only £9.99.
Tornado was the first main line steam locomotive to be built in
Britain for over 40 years and when Tornado first hit the
rails in 2008 it generated nationwide media coverage
and tens of thousands came to see it as it toured the
country - including vists to Swanage. When the list of locomotives to be preserved
for the nation was drawn up in the early 1960s when
BR's steam fleet was being withdrawn and scrapped,
the fact that no representative of Peppercorn's 'A1'
Pacifics was to be saved left a significant gap in Britain's
preserved railway heritage.
