Restoration of Drummond M7 No 30053 took place during the late 1980s and early 1990s - returning to Swanage as a fully working steam locomotive in 1992.

Winter maintenance 2008/2009 included work to:

• the blower
• the reverser
• steam heating
• driver's side injector steam valve
• ejector shut off valve
• rectify a leak from the top flange of the steam pipe in the smokebox
• inspection of the cylinders and steam chests
