THE MERCURY GROUP MEMBERSHIP MATTERS

All members of the Mercury Group are primarily Life Members of the Railway's governing charity the Swanage Railway Trust.

The Group was originally formed in recognition of the move by 18 Junior Soldiers from Kohima Troop, 11 Signal Regiment, who decided to become Premier Life Members of the Railway in 1992. They had traveled from Yorkshire and were part of the 70 strong Ex Topham Hatt 5 that performed a huge spring clean of the Railway in April 1992.

Since then nearly 200 individuals have shown their intent to join the Railway. The vast majority have been serving members of the Armed Forces, many of whom have now left their Service. Regrettably many have lost touch with the Group and we are always keen to re-establish contact with old friends.

Membership of the Mercury Group is open to any person who has a genuine wish to support the Group and its aims - see Constitution.
