With regret, due to electrical problems with Class 44, D4 'Great Gable', owners the Peak Locomotive Group have been forced to withdraw D4 from this years visiting line up. This comes as a great disappointment to the Peak Locomotive Group who have spent several months ensuring D4 would be ready for the forthcoming diesel gala.
As a result, class 20, 20142 will now replace D4 in the visiting line up.
The Swanage Railway would like to thank the Peak Locomotive Group for the efforts in getting D4 ready for our gala, and the Class 20 Locomotives Limited for assisting us at such short notice.
The home fleet of diesel locomotives will also be in action.
Supplementing the diesel line-up and in use as hauled passenger rolling stock will be 4-VEP class 423 EMU, 3417 ‘Gordon Pettit’.
Once again there will be an opportunity to drive a number of the visiting diesel locomotives -
including the 20227, 55019, 56006, and the 08. Click here to book the driver experience courses available this year.
